Not sure who said that your jewellery should be the
‘Last thing you put on and the first thing you take off’
but they knew what they were talking about
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY JEWELLERY ?
Your silver jewellery has been carefully checked to ensure that it will withstand reasonable wear and tear. However by its very nature, jewellery is delicate and should be treated with due care. Please take steps to ensure that your jewellery doesn’t rub against other metals or harsh surfaces as they will scratch and wear your pieces.
Silver jewellery will naturally tarnish over time. To maintain the sparkle and reduce tarnish we recommend the following:
Ideally try to keep your jewellery dry, so remove before you shower, bathe, get in a hot tub, visit the beach etc. Also avoid contact with chlorinated water which particularly accelerates tarnishing of silver.
Please avoid direct contact with perfumes, deodorants hair products etc. Ideally apply any perfume or lotion before putting your jewellery on.
Keep jewellery away from extreme temperatures, humidity and sunlight, and avoid wearing your jewellery when using bleach and other harsh household cleaners.
Wearing a piece regularly can help to slow down the process of tarnishing as the metal moving against your skin and itself will help to keep it clean.
HOW DO I STORE MY JEWELLERY ?
Whilst not being worn your jewellery can be stored individually in the black acid free tissue provided, in a cool dry environment.
CAN I CLEAN MY JEWELLERY ?
You can give your pieces a buff with a silver jewellery cloth that is impregnated with silver cleaner to help remove tarnish, this can help delay tarnishing of your pieces too, as it forms a protective barrier. You can use these cloths until they are black, they shouldn’t be washed.
If your pieces are particularly dirty, then warm soapy water and a very soft toothbrush can be used to keep them looking sparkly and clean.
If you have purchased an item including gemstones, please take a little extra care when cleaning, particularly with softer stones such as pearls, opals, lapis lazuli and turquoise, and do not use silver dip, ultrasonic cleaners or excessively hot water, as softer gemstones can be damaged. Pearls in particular can be discoloured by soap, perfume and make up, so take extra care with them. They are a natural substance and are porous, so avoid anything which could be absorbed.
With care your jewellery will last a lifetime, if you wear it out, I will gladly repair it for you free of charge - see T&Cs for further info.
